Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has put her acting career on hold because she has been chosen to be running mate for Olajide Adediran of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who is contesting to become governor of Lagos in Nigeira’s next election in 2023.
The popular actress, aka Jenifa, will thus become the new Deputy Governor of Lagos State if the polls go in favour of the PDP.
Confirming her new role on Tuesday, July 12, the actress stated that her acting career must be “necessarily put on hold”.
According to her, stopping acting is a sacrifice she had to make to “rescue” the people of Lagos State.
In the video she shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, the actress said, “I am not unaware of the cost of this assignment on my vibrant career, which I must now necessarily put on hold.
