Ghanaians in the diaspora have for long been strong patrons of the local entertainment industry, and this 1987 video of legendary highlife singer, Nana Ampadu portrays how well they love the home-brewed music.
The singer was at the peak of his career during the period the film was made 35 years ago in Chicago, USA.
Another interesting part of the video was when Nana Ampadu paused during his performance to announce the tour date of fellow Ghanaian musician, A.B. Crentsil and his Ahenfo Band.
Nana Ampadu went on to perform his hit song, “Agartha,” for the first time, driving the entire hall into a frenzy.
A.B. Crentsil was born in Tarkwa in 1943. He played in the El Dorados Band, Sweet Talks, Talk Of The Town Band and later his own Ahenfo Band.
