The Accra High Court, on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 set aside elections organized by the management of GHAMRO in March 15, 2022.
The election brought into office the Rex Omar-led Board, following a challenge by the GHAMRO Elections Committee members constituted at its last Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Kumasi in 2019.
Apparently, the management of GHAMRO disregarded an interlocutory injunction pending a resolution to a suit following the organization of an Emergence General Meeting (EGM) contrary to the GHAMRO Constitution by the same management, after the four-year term of the previous Board also led by Rex Omar expired.
The management of GHAMRO was fined two thousand Ghana cedis (GHC2,000.00).
Given the numerous calls for change amidst the general dissatisfaction expressed by the GHAMRO membership of the Rex Omar-led Board, this ruling offers the only music collective management organization (CMO), an opportunity to bring in fresh faces and ideas to restructure and streamline its operations for the benefit of all its’ members.
The management is yet to respond to this new development.
