I don’t believe the Accra Zoo lion story — A Plus

Veteran rapper and entertainment critic, Kwame A Plus, has expressed his disbelief in the alleged death of the middle-aged man devoured by a lion at the Accra Zoo.

According to A Plus, the fact that the deceased’s body was discovered in the zoo cannot be used to conclude that he was killed by a lion.

In Facebook post shared on Monday, August 29, the former rapper said he expects a better explanation of the incident from the Ghana Police Service as he does not believe the story of the zookeepers.

“Leave it to the police to investigate and come out with their findings. What if he was killed and thrown in there? I find it difficult to understand how Gyata had food and left it to go and wait for another food from its keeper. Please there must be some proper investigation into this matter,” he wrote.

He further stressed “you cannot conclude that because a deceased person was found in a lion’s cage, he/she was killed by a lion. That is extremely pedestrian; finding a dead body afloat doesn’t always mean the victim drowned.

“There must be an autopsy to find out if there is water in the lungs to prove whether the victim was breathing (alive) at the time he/she was in the water or died before he/she was thrown in the water to conceal evidence, etc…. same must be applied in this very case. Let the police investigate,” he concluded.

His remark was in response to the alleged killing of an unidentified middle-aged man by one of the two lions in their enclosure at the Accra Zoo.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 28, when the alleged intruder broke into the lion’s enclosure, attempting to steal the cubs.

According to Forestry Commission, the intruder was attacked and killed by one of the two lions.
