Pharaoh of Atakayie fame has thrown some salvos at award-winning rapper Okyeame Kwame.

According to him, he does not consider Okyeame Kwame as a rapper because he rated the younger generation of rappers over the older generation.

In an interview with DJ Magnus of Takoradi-based Connect FM, he said: “Okyeame Kwame spoke for himself and not for some of us. He’s not a rapper. Everyone knows Okyeame Kwame is not a rapper. Which of the new crop of rappers raps better than Jay-Z, LL Cool J, and others?”

"I disagree agree with @Okyeamekwame on the notion that the new crop of rappers are better than our generation" – Akatakyie (King Pharaoh) #OilCityMix pic.twitter.com/ohrOMno4VI

He added that the rap he did on Akatakyie’s ‘Odo Asisi Me’.

“My rap line in the ‘Odo Esisi Me’ song is over 20 years, but people still sing it after two decades. If he feels he’s not relevant in the game, he should accept it,” he added.

Okyeame Kwame, a few months ago, told IB of Joy Prime that he was convinced that the new Ghanaian rappers are better than those of his generation.

“When we started rap, there were just a few rappers – Bright of Buk Bak, Exdoe, Chicago, Reggie Rockstone, VIP and Obrafour. We were just a few. Now, everyone knows how to rap, and the world has become so small through the internet,” Okyeame Kwame said.

The ‘rap dacta’ made his statement at the Grand Cassamora hotel at Adjiriganor where he had gone to support rapper Kwame Yogot.

He stated that “these guys are standing on the shoulders of giants like Reggie Rockstone, Lord Kenya; what people don’t know is these young rappers are way better than us. Kwame Yogot and the rest – they are much better than us.” he added.
