After performing at Stonebwoy’s concert for the second time, Ghanaian gospel musician, Empress Gifty, has revealed the reason behind her fondness of the dancehall artiste.
Speaking to ghanaweekend.com on the sidelines of the recently held Ashaiman to the World festival, Empress Gifty said Stonebwoy’s knack for excellence goads her on.
“One, Stonebwoy is a good musician and two, I love him because he is from Ashaiman and I am from Tema. I love music and love people who have vision, those who love creativity, who wanna do their best and move on, not just where they are but globally. So I believe in whatever he does,” she noted.
She further said she is unfazed by criticism about her activities with secular people.
She said there is no use doing the work of God if Christians cannot move out from the ‘saintly’ abodes to go out and win souls for Jesus Christ.
“If people think singing at a secular programme is wrong, then we should stop singing, we should stop evangelism, we should stop preaching. This is where God needs is to come to and this is where my ministry falls in. I just want to be with the people we claim do not know Christ,” she said.
“The people in the church; we say they know Christ, they are saints. So why do we even have to waste time there. So these are the people who need it,” Empress added.
Stonebwoy held the 7th edition of his ‘Ashaiman to the World’ concert on Saturday.
The concert, as usual, took place at the Sakasaka Park in Ashaiman.
Backed by the Bhim Band, Stonebwoy was on stage for about four hours as other artistes also passed through to show their support.
There were performances from Empress Gifty, Efya, D-Black, Ras Kuuku, Adina and Yaw Tog.
Others were Kofi Jamar, Mr. Drew, Mona 4Reall, Criss Waddle, R2Bees, among others.
The ‘Ashaiman to the World’ concert took a two-year break due to COVID-19. It has always been one of the biggest events on the entertainment calendar since it started about nine years ago.
