Kumasi-based artist, Yaw Tog, says he looks up to veteran rapper Sarkodie, who he considers a legend.
According to the 19-year-old, it is disrespectful for people to compare him to the 2009 VGMA Artiste of the Year, as he sees sees him as a mentor and advisor.
Speaking in an interview with Kastle FM, Yaw Tog revealed that he has met Sarkodie on several occasions since he started his music career.
“If people compare me with Sarkodie I feel that you guys are disrespecting him because he knows what time is it and where I am right now he’s gone past that stage.
“I will say that Sarkodie is someone that I really look up to him and I have met him on several occasions he has advised me a lot.” he said
In his final year in high school, Yaw Tog got the attention of the world when he released his smash hit song ‘Sore’ about two years ago.
The song won a feature from UK grime act Stormzy and earned him a lot of spurs on the international music scene.
He has since released records that have projected his brand from normal rapper in Kumasi to that young rap icon the world’s eye is fixated on.
