Patricia Oduro, known as Nana Agradaa, has been granted a GHS50,000 bail barely a week after she was arrested for an alleged money doubling scam in her church.
The Accra Circuit Court, hearing the case on October 17, ruled that Agradaa presents 3 sureties who must be civil servants earning not less than GHS2,000. She will also report to the police every Wednesday until further instructions are given.
Nana Agradaa is still facing seven counts of defrauding by false pretence through advertisement on her own television station, TTV.
The police, on Monday, October 10 announced that they had started investigating the controversial evangelist after people who attended her all night service on Friday, 7 October were seen in viral videos accusing her of defrauding them during the service.8
A TikTok user by name Akua MP who was presnt at the service gave a vivid account of what transpired at the Heaven Way Church in Weija, where members claim they were scammed by Evangelist Patricia Oduro.
The church programme, which started in the evening of Friday, October 7, ended in the morning of Saturday, October 8.
Members captured in videos trending on social media say that Agradaa claimed during her evangelism program on TTV that she would double any amount of money they send to her church.
After taking their money, Akua MP disclosed that Agradaa, did not double the money as promised and also refused to give back the money she received.
According to other aggrieved members, she (Agradaa), realizing that many of her victims were still loitering around the premises of the church after the service, offered to give some of them GHS10 for them to use for transportation back home.
