The Communications Director of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Mohammed Amin Lamptey has told Citi News that popular boxer, Braimah Kamoko, aka Bukom Banku deserves every punishment he is receiving for what he calls a series of violent crimes committed by the star that bring the profession into disrepute.
His statement comes after an Accra Circuit Court ordered Braimah Kamoko, also known as Bukom Banku, a former lightweight boxing champion of Ghana, to spend the next week in police custody for abetment of crime.
The former boxer is accused of damaging a house that belongs to one Prosper Quaye in Bukom and stabbing him in the abdomen with a bottle.
The boxer allegedly committed the crime with the help of his son.
The accused persons who appeared before court today however pleaded not guilty
According to Mr. Amin Lamptey, the punishment given to Bukom Banku will serve as a deterrent to young up-and-coming boxers to desist from violence.
