Veteran television show host, Kwaku Sintim Misa, KSM, wants the government of Ghana to remove the name ‘Kotoka’ from the nation’s biggest airport in Accra.
Kotoka to was one of the main military officers who plotted the coup that removed Ghana’s first president Kwame Nkrumah.
Barely a year after overthrowing President Nkrumah, Kotoka was killed by a group of young officers who tried to take power from Kotoka’s men.
According to KSM, the late Lieutenant General Emmanuel Kwesi Kotoka does not deserve to be named after the airport, and hence the name should be changed. He considers the airport’s name a disgrace to the history of Ghana.
The media personality is of the opinion that the name be changed to its former name, ‘Accra International Airport.” Even though some people might disagree with him, he said, he still stands by what he said.
KSM tweeted;
AT THE RISK OF ANGERING MANY, my wish is to see the name of Kotoka REMOVED from the Airport. It’s a DISGRACE to our History. HAPPY NEW YEAR
