Wizkid has won the award for “Best Male Artiste In Western Africa” at the 2022 AFRIMA Awards.
Davido received the Best Male Act in African Inspirational Music award, Wizkid won Best Act in West Africa, and Adekunle Gold took home two prizes for Best Act Group in African Contemporary Music and Best Act, Duo, or Group in African Pop alongside Davido.
Grammy winner, Burna Boy, won Best Act in Africa award at the 8th annual All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
In addition, he was named the winner of the Best Album of the Year award, defeating competitors including Didi B from Côte d’Ivoire and South African Kabza De Small.
Didi B, an Ivorian artist, won the Song of the Year Award nonetheless.
The Guinean singer Manamba Kanye won the Best Female Act in West Africa award.
The awards ceremony, held in the 15,000-seat Dakar Arena in Diamniadio, Senegal, brought the four-day music festival honouring African music icons to a close.
The evening included performances from P-Square and Black Sherif.
