The 65th Annual awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles, America on Saturday, February 4,2023.

The biggest music event in the world had in attendance a host of celebrated personalities across the globe.  Internationally-acclaimed music stars such as Jay-Z among others put up enthralling performances.

But  one of the performances that has stirred huge controversy involved singer Sam Smith. He made headlines for declaring himself non-binary and going by “they” and “them,” and his most recent big hit was a song called “Unholy,” which is a duet between Smith and German transgender singer Kim Petras.

They won the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. But here’s the kicker: Smith performed the song dressed as the devil, flanked by dancers dressed as demons.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian Reggae star, Rocky Dawuni, failed to win the Best Global Music Performance Award. The category was won by Zakes Bantwini,Nomcebo Zikode, and Wouter Kellerman for their collaboration ‘Bayathe’

Nigerian music star, Burna Boy’s also hopes of adding another Grammy plaque to his award cabinet was hurtled after he lost his two nominations.(Best Global Song performance and Best Global Album ]

Nigerian Musician Tems made history as the first female to win the Grammy Award from Nigeria.
