The English Department of the Kwame Nkrumah Science and Technology [KNUST} has announced that Kofi Kinaata’s ‘Things Fall Apart’ hit song is going to be studied by the Level 200 students for the first semester of the 2022/23 academic year.

In a tweet sighted by Ghanaweekend.com, the Voice of KNUST stated that the song was chosen due to its literary appeal and overall impact on the social lives of people.

This is the fourth time in seven years the English Department of the University will be using   Kofi Kinaata’s song as part of course materials for students.

In 2016, the hit song Susuka was recommended, two years later in 2018, the hit Confession was a course material and four years later in 2022, Things Fall Apart the 2019 hit, joined the bunch.

As was his ‘Confession’ which was also full of literary and lyrical arrangements of stanzas, the things falling apart is also making its way into academia.

Kofi Kinaata has won the Songwriter of the Year award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with all the songs.

Kinaata, holds the bragging right as the only Ghanaian musician to win the ‘Songwriter of the Year award’ at the VGMAs in four consecutive times.
