Is Larruso being sabotaged? Who is sabotaging him? How come the current best Reggae/Dancehall artiste couldn’t bag a single nomination at the #24thVGMA ?
These were the questions that came up in my mind immediately nominees for this year’s Vodafone Ghana music awards [VGMA} were announced.
The unveiling of nominees for the 24th edition of the most prestigious Ghanaian music awards took place at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
The nominees which were unveiled by the organizers – CharterHouse featured the big five categories: ‘Record of the Year’, New Artiste of the Year, Album of the Year, Vodafone Most Popular Song and the ultimate ‘Artiste Of the Year’.
It was extremely shocking that after missing out on all these top categories, Larruso was not nominated in the Reggae/Dancehall category.
This is exactly because ever since he announced his presence in the music scene in 2019 with his hit single track ‘Killy Killy’, he has dropped many monster hit songs.
In the year under review, he also released well-produced songs including the remix of his much craved banger and smash hit single “Send Dem” where he featured Black Sherif.
Another significant point is that the ‘Killy Killy’ hitmaker mounted almost all the big stages . The last show Ghanaweekend covered regarding his stage performance was at Stonebwoy’s Bhim Concert.
At the Bhim Concert the ‘Killy Killy’ crooner ‘killed’ the show. His stage craft was exceptional. When he hopped onto the stage, he restarted the show by getting everyone singing and dancing to his popular tunes.
Larruso’s performance at that time was exceedingly refreshing and his command on the microphone was world-class. He was one of the outstanding performers on the night.
In the year under review, Larruso did everything right. He really worked so hard – how he failed to bag a nomination at this year’s scheme really needs to be explained.
