When names of current best female artistes in Ghana are being mentioned, never can Cina Soul’s name be omitted.
The Sensational Ghanaian singer and songwriter’s name has undoubtedly morphed into a household artiste name.
After announcing her presence in the Ghanaian music scene with her hit single track ‘Ojorley’ in 2018, everyone kept asking “who is this new girl”?
To augment her relevance in the music scene, She was able to showcase her talent on the enchanting hit song, ‘Obiaa’ – a song she was featured on by highlife star Akwaboah.
The acidity in her verse is inordinate. The song is currently one of the hit songs in the country. Apart from being a great singer, Cina Soul is also a resounding stage performer.
She has always been able to astound fans with a stellar performance anytime she had the opportunity to perform.
But there is this mistake regarding her stage performance she must quickly correct. The last two events Ghanaweekend covered;’Women of Valour’ and 24th VGMA nominees announcement – where she was one of the main acts, she repudiated to perform her hit song ‘Ojorley’.
The ‘women of Valour’ — with the theme: ‘The Untold Story Of Courageous Women’, was to recognize and highlight the stories of courageous women, and to celebrate their achievements in various fields.
The conference that came off on March 7, 2023 at the Labadi Beach Hotel was filled with an atmosphere of empowerment and inspiration as women from all walks of life gathered to celebrate and listen to stories of hope, bravery, and challenges shared to motivate them.
Notable speakers included Women and Children’s activist, Eugenia Baffour-Bankoh, South African SuperSport presenter, Julia Stuart, and Nigerian actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde.
The unveiling of nominees for the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA) which took place at the Accra International Conference Centre(AICC) on March 18, was beamed live on TV3 and other media platforms.
These aforementioned events were huge platforms every artist would viciously use as an avenue to promote their brands.
Factually, ‘Ojorley’ is a monster hit song, but many music enthusiasts do not know the song was churned out by Cina Soul. In that regard, it was an opportunity for her to perform the song but she couldn’t utilize the opportunity.
Irrespective of the fact that Akwaboah’s ‘Obiaa’ song has made Cina Soul much popular, it would rather have made a lot of music sense if she had performed ‘Ojorley’.
On both nights, though she was given less than fifteen minutes to perform, limited minutes shouldn’t hinder her from performing her own hit song.
The literal story of ‘Ojorley’ is of a cheating husband, but another look at the song shows it’s about a people ‘cheating’ on their culture.
Cina Soul is extremely talented – her ability to churn out the song in the Ga dialect was unduly eccentric.
However, what she must understand is, ‘Ojorley’ is her breakthrough song and under no circumstance should she mount a stage without letting her fans and the world as a whole know she is the crooner of such a pronounced piece.
