Ghanaian afrobeats star,Mr.Drew has explained why he parted ways with his record label, Highly Spiritual Music.

Born Andrew Nii Commey Otoo, Mr Drew started off as a dancer before later switching to become a full-time musician.

In 2021, he released his debut album, dubbed Alpha, which featured Seyi Shay, Victor AD, Kwabena Kwabena, KiDi, Kelvyn Boy, and Rebekah.

He was the first runner-up at MTN Hitmaker Season 6 in 2017, after which he was signed to Highly Spiritual Music, founded by music producer and engineer Kaywa.

Speaking to Cookie Tee on TV3’s Newday show on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, Mr Drew revealed that he has parted ways with the popular Ghanaian record label.

On what necessitated their parting ways, the ‘Dayana’ crooner stated candidly that ,“Everyone wants growth; you can’t stay in one place for a long while. It’s more about moving ahead,” he added.

The ‘Dw3’ hitmaker who doubles as a dancer noted that he has the blessings of Kaywa, his former manager.

He indicated that he had to rethink and do the right thing, but for now, he has decided to follow in the footsteps of superstars like Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie who are thriving as independent artists

The ‘This year’ hitmaker believes he can also thrive in the music industry as an independent artist until a record label comes his way.

Mr Drew is currently out with a motivational and relatable song dubbed ‘Tomorrow’
