On August 4,2023, lovers of highlife music in Accra will witness the biggest musical concert in the year as legendary Highlife musician, Pat Thomas together with Kuami Eugene, Kwabena Kwabena are set to dazzle them with cosmic performances.

Dubbed ‘Pat Thomas Highlife Night”, a number of representatives from the creative industry, including those from the Ghana National Folklore Board, the National Commission on Culture (NCC), and the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), attended the launch of this year’s event at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, on  May 22.

“We are not seeking to monetise his works , but this event is to celebrate our hero Pat Thomas, as well as honour him for his years of hard work and dedication through the promotion of Highlife music on the world stage,” he said.

Proceeds from the event would be used to set up a music school at Agona in the Ashanti Region to train young talents.

To be held at the Accra International Conference Centre(AICC), the concert will feature classical performances by some of Ghana’s best highlife performers including Kuami Eugene, KK Fosu and Kwabena Kwabena, among others.

Aside from paying tribute to the veteran, the event also aims to similarly provide a stage for up-and-coming Highlife acts to develop their abilities and network with key people in the creative industry.

Speaking at the launch,  a member of the planning committee, Kwabena Adu Peter revealed that the event is not intended to monetise the works of the veteran musician but geared towards recognising the hard work of his likes who have given a firm foundation for Ghanaian music to gain global recognition.
