On Father’s Day, 2023, Nigerian superstar Davido took to social media to share his grief over the loss of his first son, Ifeanyi, who passed away in 2017.
He wrote that this year’s Father’s Day was particularly difficult for him, as it was the first time he would be celebrating without Ifeanyi.
“Every year, my kids send me warm messages thanking me for being a great father,” Davido wrote. “But this year, it falls short of one letter from my first son, Ifeanyi.”
The iconic Nigerian musician went on to thank God for giving him the strength to get through the pain of his son’s death, but he acknowledged that his wounds were still fresh.
“Just when I thought I was healing, this Father’s Day has revealed to me that my wounds are still fresh,” he wrote. “Some days will be like this. Water full my eyes but I’ll be alright.”
Ifeanyi died in a drowning accident at the age of three.
He has five other children: three with Chioma, and two from previous relationships.As a successful singer and songwriter,he has won numerous awards, including two Grammy nominations.
