In a recent interview, Nigerian singer Simi opened up about why she agreed to date her husband, Adekunle Gold.
Simi said that Gold had been sending her messages on Facebook for a long time, but she didn’t see them until they started dating. She said that she was impressed by his persistence and his genuine kindness.
“He was very slim at that time with white BYC and jeans,” Simi recalled. “He came to see me perform and I was like, ‘Oh hey!’ He was like, ‘Oh! I’m such a fan.’ And I was like, ‘Okay!'”
Simi said that she and Gold became friends and that he eventually asked her out. She said that she was initially hesitant, but she eventually agreed to go out with him because he was a “nice guy.”
“I mean, as much as I was sounding like all that, I still didn’t really have nothing,” Simi said. “He was a nice guy and I was like, ‘Okay, I don’t mind a nice guy.'”
Simi and Gold have been married since 2019 and they have one child together. Gold was a fan of Simi’s music and he reached out to her on Facebook. Simi didn’t see Gold’s messages until they started dating, but she was impressed by his persistence.
They became became friends and eventually started dating.Simi said that she agreed to date Gold because he was a “nice guy.”
