Ghanaian rapper Yaw Tog has announced that he is putting his education on hold to focus on his music career.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Hello FM, Tog said that he believes that he can make more money from his music career than he would from a university degree.
“University won’t give me money to survive in life,” Tog said. “I’ve planned my life such that, I’ll make money before going to the university. If I go now who’s going to pay my fees?”
Tog is not the first musician to make this decision. In recent years, there has been a growing trend of young musicians choosing to focus on their careers instead of going to university.
There are a number of reasons for this trend. First, the music industry is becoming increasingly lucrative. With the rise of streaming services, musicians are now able to reach a global audience and earn a significant amount of money from their music.
Second, the cost of university has been rising steadily in recent years. This has made it difficult for many young people to afford a university education.
It remains to be seen whether Tog’s decision to put his education on hold will pay off.
