The daughter of late author and minister ,Ama Ata Aidoo , Kinna Likimani stood in the crowd in disbelief watching as military men carried her mother’s coffin.

She couldn’t believe that her mother was gone. She had always been there for her, a constant source of strength and wisdom. Now, she is just a memory.

As the coffin got closer, Kinna felt a wave of grief wash over her. She couldn’t watch. She turned her face away, burying it in her children’s shoulders.

She didn’t want them to see her cry.

The coffin passed by, and Kinna took a deep breath. She had to be strong for her children. She had to be strong for her mother. She turned back to the crowd, and she saw that the people around her were crying too.

They were all grieving the loss of Ama Ata Aidoo, a woman who had touched so many lives.

Kinna knew that her mother would want her to be strong. She would want her to carry on her legacy. And that’s what Kinna was determined to do.

She would raise her children to be proud of their Ghanaian heritage. Ama Ata Aidoo was gone, but her spirit would live on in Kinna and her children. And that was a comfort to Kinna, even in her grief.

The funeral which took place at the forecourt of the State House on Thursday, July 13,2023 was attended by President Akufo-Addo and former President John Dramani Mahama.
