Celebrated Ghanaian musician Guru has revealed that he took a break from the music scene because he was battling “so many demons”.
The rapper, who is known for his monster hits such as “Lapaz Toyota” and “Poley” said that he was going through a difficult time in his life when he decided to take a break from music.
“In life i have battled with so many demons…so during the time people were not hearing from me was due to the fact that i was battling with demons but i have finally conquered them.” He said in an interview with Abeiku Santana on Okay FM
Guru did not specify what these demons were but speaking to GhanaWeekend a week ago, he revealed that the Mother of his 10-year-old daughter also died in Australia a year ago.
The rapper, whose real name is Maradona Yeboah Adjei, said in the interview that he was devastated by the loss and needed time to grieve.
“The death of my baby mama was one of the setbacks… It was a very difficult time for me, but I am grateful that I have come out of it stronger.”
The CEO of NKZ Music explained that he was initially reluctant to release his new song, “Can’t Touch This,” but eventually decided to do so in honour of his late baby mama.
The song, which was produced by DobMusic, is Guru’s first song of the year. He stressed that he is now excited to promote his new song and tour around the world. He is also grateful for the support of his fans during this difficult time.
