Celebrated broadcaster, Berla Mundi is set to host the 66th Grammy’s African Nominee brunch for the second time.

This official side event of the 66th Grammy Awards will take place in Los Angeles on February 3, 2024.  Berla Mundi hosted the previous edition last year, where she interacted with the likes of South Africa’s Nomcebo Zikode and Ghana’s Rocky Dawuni, who were present for the brunch.

The organisers of this year’s event, GUBA, led by Lady Dentaa Amoateng MBE, have announced several personalities, including Nigeria’s Davido, South African Amapiano star Musa Keys, and British-Ghanaian record producer Juls Baby, to attend the event ahead of the Grammy night.

She expressed her excitement about hosting the prestigious event for the second time on Instagram, reacting to GUBA’s post with “looking forward to this.”

Several other Ghanaians, including EMY’s founder Kojo Soboh, rapper Gambo, and music producer Juls, have also been announced as guests for the forthcoming event.

According to Lady Dentaa Amoateng, MBE, the African Nominee Brunch set to happen at Spring Place, Beverly Hills, promises to be “an unforgettable experience with Berla at the helm.”

Several African artists have been nominated for the 66th Grammys, including Nigeria’s Burna Boy, Davido, and Ayra Starr, as well as South Africa’s Tyla.

Burna Boy has been nominated for four awards, including Best Melodic Rap Performance, Best Global Music Album, Best Global Music Performance, and Best African Music Performance.

Meanwhile, Davido has secured three nominations. Asake, Olamide, Ayra Starr, and Tyla have all received their first nominations in the Best African Performance category, which is part of a larger set of updates and amendments aimed at making the awards process “more fair, transparent, and accurate,” according to Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr.

Best African Music Performance

  • ‘Amapiano’ by Asake & Olamide
  • ‘City Boys’ by Burna Boy
  • ‘Unavailable’ by Davido ft. Musa Keys
  • ‘Rush’ by Ayra Starr
  • ‘Water’ by Tyla
