The Tema General Hospital has released a statement refuting rumours of a child’s death during a power outage at their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
Dr. Richard Anthony, the facility’s Medical Director, confirmed a power cut and a subsequent issue with the emergency backup generator.
According to him, technicians worked to restore power, which took approximately two hours. The circulating video captured this period.
The hospital emphasised that these events did not cause any loss of life.
