Reggae dancehall recording artist, creative director, and arts painter, Theophilus Nii Arday Otoo, professionally known as Epixode, has expressed concerns regarding the low patronage of music produced in Ghana.

In a recent social media post, the multi-talented artist lamented the increasing preference for foreign music among Ghanaians compared to home-grown talent.

Epixode, who recently dropped a captivating Highlife track titled “Efie asem,” shared his frustration, stating that he cannot pinpoint the exact cause of the disparity in support for Ghanaian music.

He highlighted examples of East African artists singing in Swahili and achieving global success, as well as Nigerian artists incorporating “Odo” in their songs and topping charts, contrasting with the limited international reach of Ghanaian music.

In his post, Epixode passionately advocated for the recognition and promotion of Highlife music, emphasizing its cultural significance and potential for broader appreciation. He called upon music enthusiasts to rally behind the genre, suggesting that Highlife music deserves more recognition and support.
