Policy think thank, IMANI Africa has accepted calls by actress Yvonne Nelson for a protest against the Akufo-Addo-led government over the ongoing erratic power supply commonly known as “dumsor.”

Yvonne Nelson stated in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday, April 22, that she is waiting for IMANI to reach out to her for the vigil as it did in 2015.

At the height of the power crisis in 2015, Yvonne Nelson led a group of activists that staged the #DUMSORMUSTSTOP vigil against the then John Dramani Mahama administration and demanded an end to the power cuts.

Many believe John Mahama and his National Democratic Congress (NDC) were voted out partly due to the power crisis.

The actress and producer said President Akufo-Addo and his New Patriotic Party government have taken Ghanaians for granted, which must be stopped.

Imani Ghana, can we organize another vigil? Ive been waiting for you to reach out like you did years back. ( your team made our demo a success ) Im reaching out myself. The NPP and its leadership @NAkufoAddo have taken Ghanaians for granted . #DUMSORMUSTSTOP

A day after Yvonne Nelson’s post, the President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, took to Facebook to accept the call and said his firm would make the necessary announcements at the appropriate time.

“Meanwhile, others can also organise their unique protests in churches, mosques, bars, schools, and homes. #DUMSORMUSTSTOP,” Franklin Cudjoe further urged others to demand an end to the crisis.
