Hiplife legend Barima Sidney has said he is open to performing on political campaign platforms, including composing campaign songs.

Speaking in an interview on 3FM Drive, hosted by Giovani Caleb, Barima Sidney explained that he finds it difficult to understand why musicians are criticised when they perform or compose songs for political parties.

Barima noted that just as musicians will perform for friends or other corporate organisations and be paid, they can equally do the same for political parties as it’s only business as long as they do not clad themselves in party colours.

“Let’s say I have a friend and he invites me to come to perform, I will a doctor’s friend too invites me I will go, why not the politician? So far as I am going there to perform my music without wearing any party colours and holding some flag, I will go.

“Even as we sit here if NDC invites me Sidney to come and perform for us, I will go so far as you pay me,” he noted.

“As for that one the money go big, it’s allowed,” Sidney Barima responded when asked if he is open to composing campaign songs for political parties.

Sidney has in the past been accused of writing songs such as ‘Papa No’ and ‘Our Money’ to criticize the NDC although the artiste had denied such claims.

He reiterated on 3FM Drive with Giovani Caleb both songs were not directed at the party as he had no plans of ridiculing them.

Barima Sidney urged Ghanaians to disregard such assertions.

“The idea wasn’t to ridicule any political party. It was me coming from the streets then telling him [John Mahama] and in the same song he said something to calm us down,” he added.
