Popular Ghanaian traditional musician,  Michael Adangba has released a song titled “Mapeneso” in appreciation to God for sparing his life after a near-death experience.

The release of the song, ‘Mapeneso’ follows a successful open-heart surgery, done in South Africa to save the singer’s life.

The prolific composer had been diagnosed with Cardiomegaly or an enlarged heart. (An enlarged heart has trouble pumping blood efficiently)

The condition according to medical experts signaled a heart attack and increased his risk for heart failure.

This necessitated an urgent surgery to reduce the singer’s left ventricle, the main pumping chamber of the heart.

After surviving the procedure, done at the Mediclinic Morningside; a private health facility in Johannesburg, South Africa, Michael Adangba composed the song, ‘Mapeneso’, acknowledging that he would not be alive without God.

Lyrics of the song,  accompanied by a touching video recorded at the operation theatre are a clear expression of his gratitude towards God for giving him a second chance at life.

The song also captures the struggles of his life and shares some unpleasant experiences he endured whilst growing up, pointing out that he owed his life to Christ.

“ I will also want to use the opportunity to tell all parents to look after their children’s condition before they grow up because knowing the condition earlier could teach you the lifestyle to live to avoid more complications if my condition were taken proper care of maybe my suffering would have been less because I lost a lot due to that”

“So my purpose for the song is to first thank God almighty, Mr Ibrahim Mahama and spread the message to the people about the sickness.” Michael Adangba noted in an interview with 3entertainment.

Michael Adangba’s heart surgery was sponsored financially by acclaimed businessman, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama whose philanthropic and humanitarian acts keep impacting and changing lives for the better.

Mr. Adangba has been struggling with a heart condition for 10 years now and it’s taken the benevolence of the business mogul to settle his medical bills in medical facilities both in and outside Ghana.
