Acclaimed actor Idris Elba will headline the second edition of the Africa Cinema Summit, which will be held from October 7 to 10, 2024, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel.
The Africa Cinema Summit is a three-day event that brings stakeholders from the cinema industry value chain worldwide to Africa.
The summit is unique as it is the first of its class to be held in Africa and it focuses on the peculiarities in the African cinema space as well as the challenges and the numerous opportunities the industry offers
The first edition of the summit last year drew various filmmakers from 20 African countries to Ghana for varied conversations on growing cinema on the continent.
This year’s edition aims to further consolidate the progress made in the African cinema industry, fostering collaboration, innovation and sustainable growth.
The 2024 summit will focus on the growth in quality of local content production and consumption driving the case for increased cinema investment.
On Monday, September 30, 2024, the organisers of the African Cinema Summit, the National Film Authority (NFA), confirmed Idris Elba’s attendance in a post on Instagram.
