The second edition of the Africa Cinema Summit (ACS) kicked off on Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.

Organized by Ghana’s National Film Authority (NFA), the summit, themed “Is Cinema Relevant in African

Communities” is set to conclude on Thursday, October 10.

Headlining the 3-day event is legendary British actor and Chairman of IE7&The Akuna Group, Idris Elba.

Joining him on the first day was Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts, and Culture, Mr Andrew Egyapa

Mercer, his Deputy Mark Okraku Mantey, and industry stakeholders from across Africa, including

Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Angola.

The summit is also attracting executives from the African diaspora and representatives from investment bodies like Afreximbank and IFC.

Moderated eloquently by the well-respected media personality and poet Apiorkor Seyram of Citi FM and

Channel One TV, the summit aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth within the African cinema industry.

The CEO of the National Film Authority, Juliet Yaa Asantewaa Asante, delivered the keynote address to

officially open the Second edition of the Africa Cinema Summit. Nollywood actress and producer, Omoni Oboli’s latest movie, “The Uprising: Wives on Strike”  was also premiered at the opening.

On Tuesday, October 8, the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, will grace the event as the Guest of Honor.
