Popular Nigerian actress, Ini Edo has addressed speculations about her potential marriage.

Recall that the reports went viral in September 2024 after Ini Edo shared a photo of herself in a traditional Efik bridal gown with a love caption on her official page.

However, in the latest interview with Nigeria’s Premium Times, the actress clarified that the post was a promotion for her upcoming four-part series, ‘My Fairytale Wedding’ and not an engagement announcement.

When asked if she anticipated having a real-life fairytale wedding someday, Ini Edo noted that marriage is no longer a priority for her.

“I’m not crazy about marriage; I am crazy about having a solid relationship. I’m not hoping, and it’s not any of my prayer points.”

The multiple award-winning actress was previously married to a Nigerian-American businessman, Philip Ehiagwina.

The couple got married in 2008 but divorced in 2014 without a child.  However, in 2021, Ini Edo, welcomed her first daughter, Light, via a surrogate.

Surrogacy is a type of pregnancy in which a woman carries and gives birth to a baby for a person who is not able to have children. In a surrogate pregnancy, eggs from the woman who will carry the baby or from an egg donor are fertilised with sperm from a sperm donor to make an embryo.

The embryo is implanted in the uterus of the surrogate mother, who carries the baby until birth.

The award-winning actress and entrepreneur said she opted for a surrogate for her peace of mind and that of her baby. Also, she said she wouldn’t want any form of controversy.
