Comedian Derrick Kobina Bonney, popularly known as DKB, has expressed his displeasure over the backlash he’s faced from supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following his recent skit promoting John Dramani Mahama’s 24-hour economy initiative.

The humorous video, intended to showcase Mahama’s policy, quickly drew sharp criticism from NPP members who accused DKB of spreading misleading information.

In response, DKB urged NPP supporters to dial down their insults, stressing the need for political tolerance and a healthy discourse. “I understand the concerns, but insults won’t solve anything.

My skit didn’t harm anyone—it was simply my way of expressing support for a policy,” DKB explained. He reiterated that he had done nothing criminal, nor had he engaged in any activity that warranted such intense criticism.

The comedian further noted that the backlash wasn’t limited to regular NPP supporters but had extended to key political figures like Gabby Otchere Darko and Franklin Cudjoe. Both individuals publicly dismissed his advertisement, adding more fuel to the controversy.

DKB couldn’t help but express a sense of betrayal, noting that some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were also unhappy with the skit’s execution.

DKB commented on the mixed reactions in his signature humorous tone: “Herh Chale, even some NDC people aren’t feeling it! It’s like I’ve offended everyone, but hey, that’s life—can’t please everybody.”

Despite the uproar, DKB seems committed to standing by his message while calling for more tolerance and understanding within Ghana’s political space.
