South African actress Thuso Mbedu and Viola Davis are among the top stars in the highly anticipated movie adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone.
Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the film has confirmed its principal cast, with Thuso Mbedu playing Zelie, Amandla Stenberg as Amari, Damson Idris as Inan, and Tosin Cole as Tzain.
Also joining the cast are Academy Award winner Viola Davis as Mama Agba, Cynthia Erivo as Admiral Kaea, Idris Elba as Lekan, Lashana Lynch as Jumoke, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as King Saran.
Based on the bestselling novel by Nigerian-American writer, @tomiadeyemi, the film follows a young woman’s journey to reclaim magic stolen from her people in an African fantasy kingdom.
The movie is set for release on January 15, 2027, with production set to begin soon in South Africa.
An open casting call for Nigerian actors is also expected to bring additional talent to the film.
