D. Woods Speaks Out Against Diddy’s Alleged Verbal Abuse in New Documentary

Former Danity Kane member D. Woods has come forward with allegations of verbal abuse and toxic work conditions under music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. Speaking on ABC’s Good Morning America, she revealed that while she initially believed signing with Diddy would turn her dreams into reality, she instead found herself in a deeply harmful environment.

D. Woods, born Wanita Denise Woodgett, rose to fame as part of Danity Kane, a girl group formed in 2005 through the hit reality show Making the Band 3, created by Diddy. The group found massive success with hits like “Show Stopper” and “Damaged”, but behind the scenes, Woods claims that the experience was far from glamorous.

Now, as part of the upcoming Investigation Discovery documentary series The Fall of Diddy, she is sharing her story. During her interview, she explained why she has chosen to speak out now, stating:

“My experience, uhm, my truth will really be heard and actually, uhm, considered and believed.”

She detailed how Diddy, who presented himself as a powerful industry figure capable of making dreams come true, allegedly created a harsh and verbally abusive work environment. According to Woods, the pressure and mistreatment left her feeling unsafe, and at times, she was even afraid to be alone.

Body-Shaming and Toxic Workplace Culture

In excerpts from the documentary, video footage was played showing Diddy body-shaming D. Woods. She recalled the painful moments when she felt like nothing more than an object in the music industry, saying,

“I was tired of being treated like a piece of meat.”

Although Danity Kane achieved mainstream success, D. Woods’ time with the group came to an abrupt end when Diddy fired her. A key moment captured on video shows Diddy telling her,

“If you’re not happy, you can walk.”

When she asked if he was sure, he firmly responded, “I am positive.”

This moment, which has now resurfaced in light of the documentary, serves as evidence of the controlling and dismissive behaviour she experienced under his leadership.

Seeking Retribution and Moving Forward

D. Woods explained that coming forward is part of her journey toward closure, stating that she hopes sharing her story will bring her some form of retribution. Unlike many of her former Danity Kane bandmates, she did not return for the group’s later reunions, instead choosing to forge her own path in music, theatre, and acting.

Despite her experiences, she remains resilient and focused on her career. She continues to perform and actively audition for stage plays, staying true to her theatrical roots. With a renewed sense of purpose, she expressed optimism about her future, saying:

“As long as I am holding my head high, that’s all that matters.”

D. Woods’ story is one of perseverance, shedding light on the challenges many artists face in the music industry, even when they appear to be on top.

‘The Fall of Diddy’ Premieres January 27, 2025

Her revelations come as part of The Fall of Diddy, a new Investigation Discovery documentary series exploring allegations of abuse, power struggles, and behind-the-scenes controversies surrounding Diddy. The series is set to premiere on January 27, 2025.
