Multiple award-winning Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Francisca Gawuga, popularly known as Sista Afia, has made a surprising revelation about her creative process.
The talented musician disclosed that she personally records most of her songs before sending them off to her producer for final touches.
In an exclusive interview on The Chat on Channel One TV with host Ekow Koomson, the Jeje hitmaker shared insights into how she takes control of her music production from the comfort of her home studio.
According to Sista Afia, before most of her songs reach the hands of her music producer, she ensures that the fundamental aspects, including her vocal recordings, are already completed.
“I record most of my songs at home because I have a studio at home. I recorded Jeje, Conner Conner, Whether, and others all by myself. I record the vocals and send the files to my producer to master it and everything.”
Her statement highlights the growing trend of artistes taking charge of their own recording sessions, a move that grants them more creative freedom and control over their sound before the final production process.
Despite her ability to self-record, Sista Afia noted that she does not see herself transitioning into a full-time music producer.
While she appreciates the flexibility of having her own recording space, she prefers to leave the technical aspects of music production to the experts.
