Ghanaian rapper King Paluta, born Paluta Thomas Adjei Wireko, is making a compelling case for why he deserves to be crowned Artist of the Year at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

In an exclusive interview with Accra-based Neat FM, the rapper highlighted his consistency, dedication, and numerous achievements over the past year as proof of his impact on the music industry.

According to King Paluta, he has delivered four major hit songs—”Odo Bi Ye Bad,” “Aseda,” “Makoma,” and “For the Popping (Apicki)”—which have gained significant traction both locally and internationally.

Beyond his solo projects, he has also featured on over 40 collaborations, performed at 115 shows, and successfully released an album, further solidifying his presence in the industry.

Reflecting on his journey, he pointed to his Best New Artist of the Year win at last year’s TGMA as an indication of his growth and eligibility for the top award.

“If I was recognized as the Best New Artist last year and have since elevated my craft, dropped multiple hits, and expanded my reach, then I believe I deserve the top award this time around,” he asserted.

King Paluta also emphasized the global reach of his music in 2024, stating that his songs have crossed borders and gained international traction.

“I didn’t take a break. I kept working, releasing hit after hit. My music went global, and people from different parts of the world vibed to it. It would be unfair not to acknowledge my efforts with the Artist of the Year title,” he stressed.

However, one challenge in his bid for the top prize is his inability to headline a solo concert, a key factor often considered in selecting the winner. Addressing this, the rapper explained that he prioritized international engagements due to the growing demand from his fanbase abroad.

Beyond Artist of the Year, King Paluta is also vying for other prestigious awards, including Best Collaboration and Most Popular Song of the Year, as he continues to make waves in the Ghanaian music industry.
