Achimota School has marked its 98th Founders’ Day celebration under the theme “An Enduring Legacy: Excellence, Discipline, and Character.”
The event provided an opportunity for the Old Achimotan Association (OAA) to reconnect and reflect on the school’s legacy, with past students from the 2000, 1985, and 1975 year groups in attendance.
In his opening address, the Headmaster of Achimota School, Ebenezer Acquaah, acknowledged the contributions of the OAA and commended them for their continued support.
“We want to take this opportunity to express our profound gratitude to all our friends who have supported the school in various ways constructing new buildings, renovating old structures, and providing equipment for student use.
“Today, we are delighted to announce that the 1975 year group, celebrating 50 years, and the 1985 year group, celebrating 40 years, have generously provided the school with a significant amount of science equipment worth GHS 1.5 million to equip the OAA Tallo Science Block,” he stated.
Award-winning broadcast journalist Kwaku Sakyi-Addo, who was the guest speaker, urged students to embrace the core values of the school and strive for excellence.
“Three important ingredients for raising leaders are captured in the theme of this year’s Founders’ Day: Excellence, Discipline, and Character.
“Touching on these values Excellence means distinction. For you, fellow students, that means challenging yourself to go the extra mile. It means setting yourself apart from the rest,” he urged.
The celebration was marked with various activities, including speeches, performances, and a renewed commitment to upholding Achimota School’s enduring legacy.
