President Donald Trump has announced the release of 80,000 pages of files related to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy, a decision he says will bring long-awaited transparency to one of the most debated events in U.S. history.
Speaking during a tour of the Kennedy Center, President Trump confirmed that the documents would be made public without redactions.
“People have been waiting for decades for this,” Trump stated. “I’ve instructed my team responsible—lots of different people put together by Tulsi Gabbard—and that’s going to be released tomorrow.”
The files, set for release under Trump’s directive, pertain to Kennedy’s assassination in Dallas on November 22, 1963.
Conspiracy theories have long surrounded the event, with many questioning whether the CIA or FBI withheld key details. Trump’s insistence on no redactions raises expectations that the documents could provide new insights into the case.
The announcement comes amid controversy surrounding Trump’s leadership of the Kennedy Center. After appointing himself chairman and dismissing multiple board members, he described the venue as being in “tremendous disrepair”, blaming years of poor management.
The Kennedy Center underwent a $250 million expansion in 2019, but Trump has signaled his intention to overhaul its operations. While he did not specify his plans for renovation, he made it clear that changes were on the horizon.
Despite the leadership shakeup, the Kennedy Center continues to serve as a cultural hub. Washington, D.C. native Nucci is set to host his Front Porch Live Series at the venue on April 4.
The series, which has previously welcomed Snoop Dogg, Selena Johnson, Robin Thicke, The Lox, and Big Daddy Kane, highlights D.C.’s music culture, including its signature go-go scene.
While the Kennedy Center undergoes a period of transition under Trump’s leadership, events like Nucci’s Front Porch Live Series demonstrate that the venue remains a cornerstone of the city’s artistic identity.
