Music executive and industry commentator Ricky Tenneson has shared his thoughts on Ghanaian musician Black Sherif’s newly released sophomore album, Iron Boy, expressing surprise at the absence of high-profile international collaborations on the project.
The album, which officially dropped on Wednesday, April 2, has already sparked widespread discussions online and within industry circles.
While many fans and critics have lauded Black Sherif for staying true to his introspective and gritty musical style, others have raised questions about the direction and collaborative choices — or lack thereof — on the highly anticipated body of work.
Tenneson, speaking on The Chat on Channel One TV on Saturday, April 5, weighed in on the discourse, noting that given Black Sherif’s global exposure and recent presence on international stages, he had anticipated appearances from some of the industry’s top-tier talents, particularly from the United States and the United Kingdom.
“I was like, nah, we have seen you all over the US and the UK, and so I was expecting that I would see some names that will be on the album.
“A lot goes into some of these collaborations, and it is not just a walk in the park, but for who Blacko is signed to and the moves he has been making, I expected specific names from the UK and the US, but I don’t want to mention names. I was at least expecting to see Burna Boy on the project.”
