Award-winning gospel artiste Perez Musik has once again struck a powerful chord with audiences through his latest release, Sunday School Medley—a vibrant, nostalgic, and spiritually uplifting live performance that pays homage to the simple joy of childhood praise.

Captured during the 2023 edition of his Glorified Concert at Victory Bible Church Dominion Sanctuary, the medley is more than just a collection of old tunes—it’s a carefully curated experience rooted in memory, meaning, and musical excellence. According to Perez, both audio and video were recorded live during the same session, giving the performance an authentic and immersive feel.

The selection of songs in Sunday School Medley was a collaborative process. “Each member of the team contributed,” Perez shared. “We picked songs that are memorable, easy to sing, and carry a strong sense of nostalgia—bringing us back to our early days in the faith.” This intention is woven throughout the medley, delivering a rich blend of youthful praise and grown-up gospel artistry.

A standout element in the medley is the seamless transition from My Head, My Shoulders, My Knees, My Toes into Father Abraham. Perez credits his long-time collaborator, Sponkeys, for crafting that smooth musical bridge. “He played the most major role in that transition,” Perez said. “It’s one of the highlights.”

The arrangement, handled by Perez, Sponkeys, and their behind-the-scenes team, took weeks of rehearsals and fine-tuning. Though recorded in 2023, the final touches—including mixing and mastering—were only completed a few months ago. True to his technical roots, Perez personally mixed and mastered the medley, ensuring the sound carried his signature feel.

Instrumentally, the piece radiates joy with a vibrant Afro-contemporary gospel sound, featuring live drums, bass, electric guitar, keys, and choral layering. “We wanted it to feel joyful and full,” he explained.

A significant contributor to that fullness was the University of Ghana Mass Choir, who brought unmatched vocal power and synergy to the performance. “Their spirit and energy were exactly what we needed,” said Perez, who is himself an alumnus of the university.

Visually, the medley is just as intentional. From Perez’s gold and black suit to the choir’s coordinated outfits—males in all black and females in gold and black—the styling amplified the spirit of unity and celebration. Perez credits Meg Morrison for the costume design and praised the behind-the-scenes team for their eye-catching execution.

But beyond production and polish, Perez Musik’s goal was to stir the heart. “I hope it fills listeners with joy and a sense of wonder,” he shared. “My desire is for people to reconnect with the purity of worship and the joy of those early Sunday school experiences.”

Fan feedback has already poured in. One of the most moving responses came from a children’s ministry worker who said the medley brought her to tears, reminding her why she began teaching in the first place.

With plans to push Sunday School Medley to global audiences through digital promotion and gospel media networks, Perez has set his sights on international ears—and hearts. “This sound deserves to be heard around the world,” he affirmed.

As for what’s next? “Sunday School Medley Vol. 2 is definitely something we’re considering,” he teased.

The video for Sunday School Medley was shot by Timeline Creative and edited by Perez himself at Phusion Studios, bringing full circle a project that is as much about community as it is about creativity.
