Three teenage boys have been arrested in Akuapem Adukrom in the Eastern Region for allegedly killing a 15-year-old boy, Richard, with a machete following a dispute over GHS10.

The boy, a final-year Junior High School (JHS) student preparing to sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), was reportedly struck in the head with a machete, exposing his brain matter in a gruesome attack that has left the community in shock.

According to police and eyewitness accounts reported by UTV on Monday April 14, the incident began with a misunderstanding over missing change from an errand.

A disagreement escalated into a scuffle among the teens, during which Richard, who was not directly involved, stepped in to mediate.

His intervention, however, did not sit well with one of the suspects, who allegedly plotted revenge. The suspect, together with two others, attacked the deceased in what appears to have been a premeditated act of violence.

The three suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.

The tragic killing has sparked outrage and deep sorrow in Adukrom, with residents and local authorities calling for justice and stronger efforts to curb youth violence.
