The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has announced the commencement of a seven storey hostel facility aimed at easing accommodation challenges on campus.
According to a post by KNUST Live on X (formerly Twitter), the project is being fully funded through the university’s Internally Generated Funds (IGF) — a significant milestone reflecting KNUST’s commitment to self-sufficiency and student welfare.
“KNUST is taking a massive step forward – constructing a brand new 7-storey hostel facility funded entirely by its Internally Generated Funds,” the post read.
“Lessening accommodation headaches – more space, more comfort!”
The new hostel is expected to significantly expand residential capacity on campus, helping to address long-standing concerns over inadequate accommodation for the growing student population.
Once completed, it will provide modern, comfortable living spaces for hundreds of students, easing pressure on existing facilities.
University management has yet to release a timeline for completion, but the announcement has already generated excitement among students and stakeholders, many of whom see it as a proactive response to the housing crisis that often forces students to seek off-campus alternatives.
