Nigerian singer and songwriter Simi has opened up about why she doesn’t maintain close friendships within the entertainment scene, citing her introverted nature and preference for authentic connections.
In a recent interview with media personality VJ Adams, Simi revealed that her personality doesn’t quite align with the highly social nature of the industry.
“My friends in the industry they’re my guys. They’re not my friends because they’re in the industry,” she clarified.
While she remains deeply passionate about music, Simi admitted that she doesn’t naturally gravitate toward the social dynamics that often define the entertainment world, preferring instead to keep her circle grounded in personal, not professional, bonds.
I’m really bad at that and I always say that I think I have the wrong personality for the industry I have the passion for. I’m only doing music because I like music and there are many things that I like and know how to do but I feel like my personality is not compatible.
“I’m really not good at networking and I don’t know how to engage like that. The rapport I even have with you I don’t have with many people in the media. These things don’t come to me naturally so I have to be extra at it” she said to VJ Adams.
