Former Ghanaian hiplife artiste turned gospel minister, Yaw Siki, has opened up about the darker chapters of his life, recounting how his past was marred by substance abuse, sexual immorality, and deep personal struggles before he surrendered his life to Christ.

In an interview with media personality DrPounds on Pounds TV, the former hitmaker of ‘Wope Dodo’ revealed that his lifestyle prior to his transformation was far from godly.

“I used to chop ashawo and I was addicted to porno,” he said bluntly, explaining that his constant exposure to pornography eventually led to chronic masturbation.

He recalled that during those times, he frequently slept with prostitutes and spent a significant amount of time watching adult content.

“At a point, I wanted to sleep with girls but I wasn’t getting them like that, and that’s what led me to become a chronic masturbator,” he added.

Yaw Siki also disclosed that substance use was a major part of his life during his music career.

According to him, he began drinking at a very young age, well before reaching junior high school, and by the time he was in senior high, he had also taken up smoking.

“Yoo, I was a heavy drinker. Like I knew how to drink waa. When it came to alcohol, I knew how to drink paa. I also knew how to smoke waa. If you were looking for one of the artistes in Tema who knew how to smoke, I was one of them,” he recalled.

The musician attributed these early habits in part to his upbringing. He revealed that both of his parents were heavy drinkers, and he often had to run errands to purchase alcoholic beverages for them.

“That’s how I started drinking,” he said. “I’m not ashamed to say it now because they are no more. They won’t be embarrassed by it.”
