Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has come to the defence of Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), following the recent uproar over the politician’s dollar gift saga.
In a fiery Facebook post on May 12, 2025, Shatta Wale called out critics, urging them to stop tarnishing Sammy Gyamfi’s image.
“Do you all know when Sammy Gyamfi started helping the streets?” Shatta Wale wrote. “All of you should shut up and leave the young man alone if [you] don’t know about someone’s humble beginnings. We like tarnishing people’s image too much.”
The controversy erupted after a video of Sammy Gyamfi surfaced online gifting dollars to evangelist Patricia Asiama, popularly known as Nana Agradaa,Gyamfi, sparking debates about the ethics and intentions behind the gesture.
Supporters of the artiste and Sammy Gyamfi praised the musician for highlighting the politician’s grassroots efforts, while detractors questioned the timing and motives of the defense.
As the saga unfolds, Shatta Wale’s bold stance has added fuel to the ongoing debate, with many now reflecting on Gyamfi’s track record and the broader issue of public perception in Ghanaian politics.
