Ricky Tenneson calls for fashion experts to manage TGMA red carpet

Music executive Ricky Tenneson has proposed that the red carpet segment of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) be handled by fashion experts to elevate its prestige.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Chat Show with host Ekow Koomson, Tenneson stressed the need for fashion bloggers and magazine editors to take charge of the red carpet planning.

“For the red carpet, we’re selling it to the fashion gurus. From people who post content on blogs, magazines—they should own that so that it is special. Within the four to five months of planning, they’re also not planning for the main event; they’re planning on getting the right people, the right models, and even the artistes who will come on,” he explained.

Tenneson referenced the iconic Met Gala, known for its extravagant fashion, stating that red carpet moments often leave the strongest impression.

“For whatever the event was, the only thing you remember is the red carpet moment when everyone was coming in. Whatever they went after that to go and do, you and I don’t even remember,” he noted.

He emphasised that if TGMA aims to make its red carpet equally significant, its management should be entrusted to fashion experts.
