Veteran Ghanaian actor Kofi Adjorlolo has revealed he would not encourage his children to pursue acting in Ghana due to the industry’s challenges, including a lack of structural support and insurance for actors.
In an interview on The Liz Show with Elizabeth Essuman on June 9, 2025, Adjorlolo shared that his original passion was music, not acting.
“Honestly I wouldn’t encourage my children to go into acting in Ghana,” he stated.
Despite his success as one of Ghana’s most respected actors, Adjorlolo highlighted the difficulties young actors face in the country.
“The current situation in Ghana isn’t encouraging, attractive, or enabling for young ones to thrive in this field,” he added.
At age eight, he began playing the trumpet and later performed with West African music legends like Ghana’s Gyedu Blay Ambolley and Nigeria’s Sir Victor Uwaifo.
“I love music so much,” he said, noting that others recognised his musical potential early on.
