Presidential Adviser on Diaspora Affairs , Kofi Okyere Darko, popularly known as KOD, has ignited a social media storm with a Facebook post criticising a photo of two men kissing beneath Ghana’s iconic Independence Monument.
In his post, KOD wrote, “Who are they? Do your thing but not beneath our Independence Monument,” prompting heated debate over cultural values, public expression, and individual rights in Ghana.
The photo, which surfaced online, depicted two unidentified men sharing a kiss at the historic site, a symbol of Ghana’s liberation and national pride.
KOD’s comment, posted today, quickly drew polarized reactions.
Supporters praised his stance, arguing that the monument should be respected as a sacred national symbol, while critics accused him of infringing on personal freedoms and promoting intolerance.
