Ghanaian star Moliy’s viral dancehall hit “Shake it to the Max (Fly),” produced by Miami-based duo Bashment Sound, debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on May 31, 2025, and is now a top contender for 2025’s song of the summer, fueled by a global dance challenge and strategic remixes.

Currently just outside the Hot 100’s top 40, “Shake it to the Max” is only the third dancehall song to hit the chart this decade, following Byron Messia’s “Talibans II” (No. 99, 2023) and Nicki Minaj’s “Crocodile Teeth” remix (No. 100, 2021).

It has also dominated U.S. Afrobeats Songs for seven weeks. An infectious dance challenge has captivated stars like J-Hope, Victoria Monét, Vic Mensa, and Cash Cobain, amplifying the song’s global reach. Bashment Sound, comprised of Disco Neil and Silent Addy, has released remixes with Skillibeng, Shenseea, Gladdest, and Major Lazer. Upcoming versions include a Vybz Kartel remix timed for Wireless, a soca remix featuring Skinny Fabulous and Lady Lava for Notting Hill/Caribana, and a Sean Paul remix.

A Latin remix is also in development, per Silent Addy. Currently in France and soon moving to London, Bashment Sound is in daily music sessions with top artists, strategically planning releases tied to global events like Wireless and Caribana.

The Jamaican-rooted, Miami-based DJ-producer duo, already a staple on the Caribbean circuit, saw their stock soar with “Shake It to the Max,” their first Hot 100 entry.

The track blends Moliy’s Ghanaian heritage with Bashment Sound’s Jamaican dancehall roots, evoking the vibrant, waist-wining riddims of 2000s dancehall rather than the moodier tones of modern trap dancehall. As DJs at heart, Bashment Sound tailors releases to align with global cultural moments, ensuring the song resonates across diverse music scenes.

The song’s success marks a rare Caribbean-African collaboration on the Hot 100, following the precedent of “Talibans II.” Bashment Sound’s event-driven release strategy, as Disco Neil told Billboard, reflects their deep connection to the global DJ scene, positioning “Shake It to the Max” as a cross-cultural anthem poised to dominate summer 2025.
