Lawyers for former fetish priestess turned evangelist,Patricia Asiedua Asiamah popularly known as, Nana Agradaa, who is serving a 15year sentence, have asked for her ongoing civil defamation case to be moved from Accra to a court in the Eastern Region.
They argue that transporting her from Nsawam Prison to Accra regularly is logistically challenging and disrupts proceedings.
On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, Empress Gifty’s lawyer confirmed the request, noting that Agradaa’s legal team cited the strain of constant travel as the basis for the application. The court is expected to rule on the motion soon.
However, Empress Gifty’s team opposes the transfer, insisting the case should proceed as scheduled. They stressed that the defamation suit is separate from the fraud conviction that led to Agradaa’s incarceration.
“This is a civil case with no jail time involved,” the lawyer explained.
The GH₵20 million lawsuit, filed in May, stems from offensive comments Agradaa allegedly made during a live broadcast, including claims of sexual misconduct.
In June, the Tema High Court dismissed Agradaa’s earlier attempt to strike out the case and ordered her to pay GH₵6,000 in costs.
